Cubs Boating Day

posted 23 Jun 2013, 02:18 by ADC Cubs
Cubs from all over Oxford had a fantastic day on the water on Saturday 22 June. The 33rd Oxford Boat Base hosted almost 90 Cubs over the course of the day, with separate morning and afternoon sessions. The Cubs were asked to complete special water activities passports, to check they knew how to stay safe, and they each got to try out three different activities: kayaking, canoeing and pulling. All of the Cubs earned their Water Activities badges, which were awarded at the end of each session.

Despite very dubious forecasts we barely got rained on, and we even managed to get a bit of a tan while the sun was shining. But this didn’t mean that the Cubs didn’t get wet – a lot of them opted to take a swim after they’d finished kayaking!

Cubs from eight different Packs attended: 3rd Oxford, 4th Oxford, 10th Oxford, 33rd Oxford Jacala, 35th Oxford, 43rd Oxford, 54th Oxford and 1st Thame Raksha; next year priority will be given to all those Packs which were unable to get spaces this year. It’s a brilliant day and the Cubs always love it.

Thank you to everyone who helped out, including the leaders from 33rd Oxford, 22nd Oxford and 2nd Abingdon – and others – who gave up their Saturday to give the Cubs this wonderful  day.
