Cub Swimming Gala

On Saturday 12 October around 90 Cubs Scouts from the District participated in the first ever Oxford Spires Cub Scout Swimming Gala. We hired Temple Cowley Pools for the afternoon and had a wonderful time in the water. Cubs from ten different Packs attended: 4th Oxford, 10th Oxford, 22nd Oxford Keego, 22nd Oxford Kotick, 33rd Oxford Jacala, 35th Oxford, 43rd Oxford, 1st Thame Raksha, 1st Thame Jacala and Yarnton.

The Cubs competed in fourteen different teams of between five and ten, participating in nine events (50m and 25m versions of backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, a 100m team medley, and 10m and 20m versions of a wading race for the non-swimmers). Each event consisted of two races with each Cub being timed and the times being used to calculate points. The points were then added up to get overall placings.

The 43rd Oxford B team finished in first place with 114 points, 22nd Oxford Keego were second with 91 points and Thame Raksha C were third with 79 points. All times, points and scores can be seen on the score sheet below.

Thank you to everyone who took part, attended as a supporter and otherwise helped to make the event a success - we're planning to do it again in 2015!
