District Cubs Boating Day

posted 23 Jun 2014, 00:50 by ADC Cubs
Cubs from all over Oxford had a fantastic day on the water on Saturday 21 June. The 33rd Oxford Boat Base hosted almost 80 Cubs over the course of the day, with separate morning and afternoon sessions. The Cubs were asked to complete special water activities passports, to check they knew how to stay safe, and they each got to try out three different activities: kayaking, canoeing and pulling. All of the Cubs earned their Water Activities badges, which were awarded at the end of each session.

We had a glorious sunny day for the event, but this didn’t mean that the Cubs didn’t get wet – a lot of them opted to take a swim after one – or in some cases all – of their boating sessions!

Cubs from nine different Packs attended: 2nd Oxford, 10th Oxford, 28th Oxford, 33rd Oxford Jacala, 40th Oxford, 43rd Oxford, 1st Thame Jacala, Wheatley and Yarnton; next year priority will be given to all those Packs which were unable to get spaces this year. It’s a brilliant day and the Cubs always love it.

Thank you to everyone who helped out, including the leaders from 33rd Oxford and 22nd Oxford – and others – who gave up their Saturday to give the Cubs this wonderful  day.
